International Day of Peace and Non-violence for School Coexistence

During today and as it has been happening for years, in most schools different events are organized to celebrate the International Day of Peace and Nonviolence, coinciding with the anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi assassination.

In these acts, words from pacifist leaders such as Gandhi or Martin Luther King are remembered, drawings are made, poems demanding peace in the world, understanding between cultures … Sensible requests, however, in school classrooms, a phenomenon continues to occur, bullying, which costs physical health and especially psychological health to many children in our country, in fact 32% of students say that bullying situations are experienced in their class.

Knowing that the key to ending this social problem is prevention, we want to emphasize the importance of taking advantage, not only today, but every opportunity that arises in the day-to-day of school, with the involvement of families and all professionals, in promoting the values ​​of respect, tolerance and equality, for a healthy school coexistence and an adequate management of the conflicts that naturally occur, thus, children from the earliest ages will learn positive relationship guidelines.
